Name: Steve Jobs
Age: 56 years old
Company: Apple Inc.
Steven Paul “Steve” Jobs was born on
February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. He was an American
entrepreneur, marketer, and inventor, who was the cofounder, chairman and CEO
of Apple Inc. Though Apple, he was widely recognized as a charismatic and
design-driven pioneer of the personal computer revolution and for his
influential career in the computer and consumer electronics fields transforming
“one industry after another, from computers and smartphones to music and
movies.”
His biological father name, Abdul Fattah
“John” Jandali (Syrian) was an undergraduate and then graduate student, where
his mother biological mother, Joanne Carole Schieble (a decent of Swiss and
German) met and pregnant, but her fundamentalist father vehemently refused to
let her marry Jandali. Soon, she went to California and gave birth Steve Jobs.
The name was given by his adopted parent. His parent, Clara and Paul Jobs
worked as an accountant and Coast Guard and machinist. The family lived in
Mountain View, California (now known as Silicon Valley). As a boy, Jobs and his
father would work on electronics in the family garage. Paul would show his son
how to take apart and reconstruct electronics, a hobby that instilled
confidence, tenacity and mechanical prowess in young Jobs.
After high school, Jobs enrolled at Reed
College in Portland, Oregon. Lacking direction, he dropped out of college after
six months and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes at the
school. Jobs later recounted how one in calligraphy developed his love of
typography. In 1974, Jobs took a position as a video game designer with Atari.
Several months later he left Atari to find spiritual enlightenment in India,
travelling the continent and experimenting with psychedelic drugs. In 1976,
when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computer. The duo started
in the Jobs family garage and funded their entrepreneurial venture by Jobs
selling his Volkswagen bus and Wozniak selling his beloved scientific
calculator.
Jobs and Wozniak are credited with
revolutionizing the computer industry by democratizing the technology and
making the machines smaller, cheaper, intuitive and accessible to everyday
consumers. Wozniak conceived a series of user-friendly personal computers,
and-with Jobs in charge of marketing-Apple initially marketed the computers for
$666.66 each. The Apple I earned the corporation around $774,000. Three years
after the release of Apple’s second model, the Apple 2, the company’s sales
increased by 700 percent, to $139 million. In 1980, Apple Computer became a
publicly traded company, with a market value of $1.2 billion by the end of its
very day of trading.
However, the next several products from
Apple suffered significant design flaws, resulting in recall and consumer
disappointment. IBM suddenly surpassed Apple in sales, and Apple had to
complete with an IBM/PC-dominated business world. In 1984, Apple released the
Macintosh, marketing the computer as a piece of a counterculture lifestyle:
romantic, youthful, creative. But despite positive sales and performance
superior to IBM’s PCs, the Macintosh was still not IBM-compatible. Sculley
believed Jobs was hurting Apple, and the company’s executives began to phase
him out.
Jobs also insist to buy Pixar Animation
Studios. Believing in Pixar’s potential, Jobs initially invested $50 million of
his own money in the company. Then, the studio merged with Walt Disney in 2006,
making Steve Jobs Disney’s largest shareholder. He later on introduced such
revolutionary products as the MacBook Air, iPod and iPhone, all of which have
dictated the evolution of modern technology. Almost immediately after Apple
releases a new product, competitors scramble to produce comparable
technologies. Apple’s quarterly reports improved significantly in 2007: Stocks were
worth $199.99 a record-breaking number at that time and the company boasted a
staggering $1.58 billion profit, an $18 billion surplus in the bank and zero
debt.
Time competence
Definition:
The time of competence, or
time to productivity as some call it is, or at least, should be the most
important measure when it comes to on boarding. It is however notoriously
difficult to measure. The only way I have ever seen it done in an acceptable
way is to ask the hiring manager. This could be done in a process of the entire
new hire process from a recruitment requisition to final stages of in boarding.
Basically you ask the hiring manager in survey how long time it look for the
new hire to fulfil the requirements of the position. This number (in months)
should hopefully process.
Name: Henry Ford
Lifetime: 30 July 1863-7 April 1947 (84 years)
Company: Ford Motor Company
Born on July 30, 1863, near Dearborn,
Michigan, United Stated. Henry Ford was lived with his family’s farm in Wayne
County, near Dearborn, Michigan. Henry Ford’s siblings were Margaret Ford, Jane
Ford, William Ford and Robert Ford. His father gave him a pocket watch in his
early teens. At 15, Ford dismantled and reassembled the timepieces of friends
and neighbors dozens of times, gaining the reputation of a watch repairman. At
twenty, Ford walked four miles to their Episcopal church every Sunday.
Ford was devastated when his mother died
in 1876. His father expected him to eventually take over the family farm, but
he despised farm work. He later wrote, “I never had any particular love for the
farm-it was the mother on the farm I loved.” In 1879, Ford left home to work as
an apprentice machinist in Detroit, first with James F. Flower & Bros and
later with Detroit Dry Dock Co. In 1882, he returned to Dearborn to work on the
family, where he became adept at operating the Westinghouse portable steam
engine. He was later hired by Westinghouse to service their steam engines.
During this period Ford also studied bookkeeping at Goldsmith, Bryant &
Stratton Business Collage in Detroit.
In 1891, Ford became an engineer with the
Edison Illuminating Company. After his promotion to Chief Engineer in 1893, he
had enough time and money to devote attention to his personal experiments on
gasoline engines. These experiments culminated in 1896 with the completion of a
self-propelled vehicle which he named the Ford Quadricycle. He test-droved it
on June 4. After various test drives, Ford brainstormed ways to improve the
Quadricycle.
Also in 1896, Ford attended a meeting of
Edison executives, where he was introduced to Thomas Edison. Edison approved of
Ford’s automobile experimentation. Encouraged by Edison, Ford designed and
built a second vehicle, completing it in 1898. Backed by the capital of Detroit
lumber baron William H. Murphy, Ford resigned from the Edison Company and
founded the Detroit Automobile Company on August 5, 1899. However, the
automobile produced were of a lower quality and higher price than Ford wanted.
Ultimately, the company was not successful and was dissolved in January 1901.
Soon, Ford remade his own company with
Malcomson and convinced the Dodge Brothers to accept a portion of the new
company. Ford & Malcomson was reincorporated as the Ford Motor Company on
June 16, 1903 with $28,000 capital. The original investors included Ford and
Malcomson, the Dodge brothers, Malcomson’s Uncle John S. Gray, Malcomson’s Secretary
James Couzens, and two of Malcomson lawyers, John W. Anderson and Horace
Rackham. His great invention, the Model T was introduced on October 1, 1908.
The car was very simple to manufacture, cheaper and most important it’s fast to
build than other car at that time. It had the steering wheel on the left, which
every other company soon copied. The entire engine and transmission were
enclosed; the four cylinder were cast in a solid block; the suspension used two
semi-elliptic springs. The car was very simple to drive and easy to repair. It
was so cheap at $825 in 1908 ($21,650 today) and price fell every year that by
the 1920s, a majority of had learned to drive on the Model T.
Henry Ford astonished the industrial world
by offering a daily wage of $5 a day. Even by today’s prices that is a very
good salary. This wage was far above what anywhere else offered. At a stroke it
solved the problem of labor turnover and encouraged the highest level of labor
productivity. Although many criticized his seemingly over generous pay, he also
pointed out, that the high wage helped the workers to be able to encourage the
highest level of labor productivity. Although many criticized his seemingly
over generous pay, he also pointed out, that the high wage helped the workers
to able to afford the cars they were making. He revolutionized the production
line processes. He helped to develop the assembly line method of production and
was always seeking to cut costs. Although he did not invent the assembly line,
yet he did make one of the most successful commercial applications of its
potential. This led to his famous decision to give customers any color they
like as long it was black. This because black was quickest to dry and therefore
the cheapest. The impact of the assembly line was to help reduce the cost of
the Model T Motor car. It helped Ford become the dominant motor car. In 1932,
it was estimated Ford were producing 33% of the world’s automobile production.

Ethical Consciousness
Definition:
Consciousness is the having of perceptions, thoughts, and feelings;
awareness. The term is impossible to define except in terms that are
unintelligible without a grasp of what consciousness means. Many fall into the
trap of equating consciousness with self-consciousness—to be conscious it is
only necessary to be aware of the external world. Consciousness is a
fascinating but elusive phenomenon: it is impossible to specify what it is,
what it does, or why it has evolved. Nothing worth reading has been written on
it.
Name: Richard Branson
Age: 64 years old
Company: Virgin Group
Branson was born in Blackheart, London.
Branson has two younger sisters. Branson was educated at Scaitcliffe School, a
prep school in Berkshire, before briefly attending Cliff View House School in
Sussex. Branson attended Stowe School, an independent school in Buckinghamshire
until the age of sixteen. Branson has dyslexia and had poor academic
performance as a student, and on his last day at school, his headmaster, Robert
Drayson, told him he would either end up in prison or become a millionaire.
Branson’s parents were supportive of his endeavors from an early age.
Branson started his record business from a
church where he ran The Student magazine. Branson interviewed several prominent
personalities of the late 1960s for the magazine including Mick Jagger and R.D.
Laing. Branson advertised popular records in The Student and it was an
overnight success. Although he seem been hippies, Branson also had a keen
business sense, and he set up a mail order record company, called Virgin to
complement the student magazine. Virgin was suggested by one of Branson’s
worker, who suggested the name because they were all new at business.
In 1993, Branson took what many saw as
being one of his riskier business exploits by entering into the railways
business. Virgin Trains won the franchises for the former Intercity West Coast
and Cross-Country sectors of British Rail. Branson’s next venture with the
Virgin group is Virgin Fuels, which is set to respond to global warming and
exploit the recent spike in fuel costs by offering a revolutionary, cheaper
fuel for automobiles and, in the near future, aircraft. Branson has stated that
he was formerly a global warning sceptic and was influenced in his decision by
a breakfast meeting with Al Gore. On 21 September 2006, Branson pledged to
invest the profits of Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Trains in research for
environmentally friendly fuels. The investment is estimated to be worth $3
billion. Branson also launched the Virgin Health Bank on 1 February 2007,
offering parents-to-be the opportunity to store their baby’s umbilical cord
blood stem-cell banks. On 9 February 2007, Branson announced the setting up of
a new global science and technology prize-The Virgin Earth Challenge-in the
belief that history has shown that prizes of this nature encourage technological
advancements for the good of mankind. The Virgin Earth will award $25 million
to the individual or group who are able to demonstrate a commercially viable
design that will result in the net removal of anthropogenic greenhouse gases
each year for at least ten years without countervailing harmful effects. This
removal must have long-term effects and contribute materially to the stability
of the Earth’s climate. On 10 January 2008, Branson’s Virgin Healthcare
announced that it would open a chain of health care clinics that would offer
conventional medical care alongside homoeopathic and complementary therapies, a
development that was welcomed by Ben Bradshaw, the UK’s health minister.
In April 2012 Virgin Care commenced a
five-year contact for provision of a range of health services which had
previously been under the aegis of NHS Surrey, the local primary care trust. By
March 2015 Virgin Care were in charge of over 230 services nationwide. In the
late 1990s, Branson and musician Peter Gabriel discussed with Nelson Mandela
their idea of a small, dedicated group of leaders, working objectively and
without any vested personal interest to solve difficult global conflicts. On 18
July 2007, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mandela announced the formation of a
new group, The Elders, in a speech he delivered on his 89th
birthday. The Elders is independently funded by a group of donors, including
Branson and Gabriel. The Elders use their collective skills to catalyze
peaceful resolutions to long-standing conflicts, articulate new approaches to
global issues that are causing or may cause immense human suffering, and share
wisdom by helping to connect voices all over the world. In 1999, Branson became
a founding sponsor of the International Centre for Missing & Exploited
Children (ICMEC), the goal of which is to help find missing children, as his
mother Eve became a founding member of ICMEC’s Board of Directors.
Branson’s other work in South Africa
includes the Branson School of Entrepreneurship, set up in 2005 as a
partnership between Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation of Virgin, and
entrepreneur Taddy Blecher , the founder of CIDA City Campus, a university in
Johannesburg. The school aims to improve economic growth in South Africa by
supporting start-ups and micro-enterprises with skills, mentors, services,
networks and finance arrangements.

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg
Age:
30 years old
Company:
NASDAQ: FB
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg born 14
May, 1984 is an American computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur. He is
best known as one of five co-founders of the social networking website Facebook
Inc. His personal wealth, as of March 2015, is estimated to be $35.1 billion.
Zuckerberg receives a one-dollar salary as CEO of Facebook.
Zuckerberg began using
computers and writing software in middle school. His father taught him Atari
BASIC Programming in the 1990s, and later hired software developer David Newman
called him a prodigy, adding that it was ‘tough to play ahead of him.’
Zuckerberg took a graduate course in the subject at Mercy Collage near his home
while still in high school. He enjoyed developing computer programs, especially
communication tools and games. In one such program, since his father’s dental
practice was operated from their home, he built a software program he called
‘Zucknet’ that allowed all the computers between the house and dental office to
communicate with each other. It is considered a ‘primitive’ version of AOL’s
Instant Messenger, which came out the following year.
During Zuckerberg’s high
school years, under the company name Intelligent Media Group, he built a music
player called the Synapse Media Player that used machine learning to learn the
user’s listening habits, which was posted to Slashdot and received a rating of
3out of 5 from PC Magazine. By the time he began classes at Harvard, Zuckerberg
had already achieved a ‘reputation as a programming prodigy’, notes Vargas. A
short time later, he created a different program he initially called Face mash
that let students select the best looking person from a choice of photos.
According to his roommate at that time, Arie Hasit, “he built the site for fun.
We had books called Face book, which included the names and pictures of
everyone who lived in the student dorms. At first, he built a site and placed
two pictures of two males and two females. Visitors to the site had to choose
who was ‘hotter’ and according to the votes there would be a ranking.”
Zuckerberg launched Facebook
from his Harvard dormitory room on 4 February 2004. An earlier inspiration for
Facebook may have come from Philips Exeter Academy, the prep school from which
Zuckerberg graduated in 2002. It published its own student directory, “The
Photo Address Book,” which students referred to as “The Facebook.” Such photo
directories were an important part of the student social experience at many
private schools. With them, students were able to list attributes such as their
class years, their telephone numbers.
Zuckerberg realize how
important his Facebook to student collage. They got their first office in
mid-2004. They had already turn down major corporation to buy the company. On November
6, 2007, Zuckerberg announced Beacon, a social advertising system that enabled
people to share information with their Facebook friends based on their browsing
activities on other sites. For example, eBay sellers could let friends know
automatically what they have for sale via the Facebook news feed as they listed
items for sale. The program came under scrutiny because of privacy concerns
from groups and individual users.
